My internship at Cumberland Valley High School was truly a capstone experience in that I have learned many lessons from that I can take with me as I grow to reach my future endeavors and develop my professional career. By doing my work experience internship at CV, I learned many of the various tasks and duties of the modern day high school athletic director, and able to gain first-hand what it is like being a high school AD. My main tasks as intern to the AD were to assist in the overall management of contests as well as preparing for the setup/ breakdown of the events. I created and executed event plans and promoted contests through various forms of print/digital media to generate increased participation and attendance. My other duties included administering ticket operations, seating and crowd management and serving as primary contact for officials. I participated in the interview and hiring process of coaches and learned how to handle complaints from parents, fans, coaches, and athletes. This was a great experience for me because I was able to actually feel like I was a part of an organization, and even more specifically, a high school athletic program. I was able to get the chance to meet many individuals throughout the time of my work experience.
